In life, very few people achieve something substantial and even fewer leave behind a legacy, a vision for generations to follow. For each of these men, it takes courage to break boundaries, strength to deal with opposition and immense devotion to keep intact the ideology. Perhaps the greatest obstacle in the way of these achievements are those sacrifices that at times tear apart the heart completely, but when a vision eludes reality, and when the obsession of an objective envelops you, that too becomes a stepping stone in the process.
In the wake of turbulent political bigamy in Pakistan, after endless years of having been trained to follow as herds of cattle, there has erupted a leader, a rebirth of principles and an embodiment of qualities we only displayed in presentations, but in practicality, tucked them way beneath the strands of exhibition.
One man who has already proved his leadership in the world of sports, in social activism and now splaying it out as casually as he may, for us, in the political battlefield of today. Where a two party vendetta has for long grouched the roots of our society, this one man has brought forth an emblazing change that proposition and opposition alike, find very hard to manoeuvre away.
Today marks the 62nd anniversary of his birth, the day when our country saw a legend in the making. From the mere age of seventeen when he was brought out in the public for the commencing of his cricketing career, he suffered numerous setbacks, eventually ending his career on the highest note possible, captaining his side to victory in the biggest ever cricketing tournament to date.
Capsizing his stature into social work after his mother died of cancer, the renowned cricketer found greater fame as he embarked upon the conquest to make the sole non profit cancer hospital that exists in the world today. Jeered and constantly mocked at, he remained steadfast and protracted destiny to follow his lead and in full swing, treating hundreds of cancer patients, the hospital stands, its success story always on the front layout.
And then eighteen years ago, the wave erupted, the tide strode forth and the movement of change began so much so that today, rights have been recognised, the importance of truth, honesty, dignity and self-respect blotted but that man still stands tall, firm and resolute that the task he initiated be brought to its final destination.
That man is none other than our Imran Khan, the man who sacrificed all that he could, from the playboy mantra to this people-serving lifestyle, foregoing the ultimate happiness of family and the luxuries he once dove massively in, he has proven his loyalty to this soul, to his country and most importantly to the people who he felt entitled to.
In his endeavour of self-satisfaction, let us not forget this battle is not that of a lone warrior. His vision to task, it is our responsibility to break free the shackles and take forth the flag of change he has for so long waved alone and in that let us not forget his diligence in making us the nation we are today.
We are proud of you Imran Khan, we are proud of your achievements, your success in every field you have drawn yourself amidst but most of all we are proud of the person you have become, the selfless, always to serve, courageous person the world sees you as. Forever long the world exists, one soul will always cherish you, and that soul is mine, always to protect your vision, your hard work and your sacrifices. Happy Birthday legend, you are one of the greatest this world has ever seen or will ever till it ends. Be safe, happy but most of all, remain contented at heart.
