Glimpses of 1940’s Struggle for Independence of Pakistan… That's the only way I can describe the last few weeks. This war we are fighting with our own countrymen using democratic and nonviolent strategies. All the ingredients necessary to win such a war have been brought together by the grace of God.
After that fateful day of 11th May 2013, we who have seen our hopes for a change in Pakistan get squashed time and time again were just stunned. Paralyzed to do anything. What could we do? Our leader was injured and the ungodly forces had won again. But within a few hours something miraculous started happening. Young Pakistanis didn't wait for IK or any other leader to guide them. They didn’t ask “What do we do? What is the action plan?” They knew instinctively what they needed to do. They came out of their homes demanding action. They were peaceful and their words were simple. “We do not except rigging” “We want justice”. They were asking their leaders to come out to protest with them. They were ridiculed by the dishonest and the cynical and pacified by the genuine.
But nothing could deter them. They knew what the truth was and they were going to stand up for it. They were not going to spend their life like their parents, sitting at home, complaining and cursing the system till they became a part and participant of the same system. They were the youth who still looked at their parents for most of their needs but for this they led their parents. They argued with their leaders when they were asked to stop protesting, asked questions, demanded a plan of action. The senior leadership in their greater wisdom made a decision to take a judicial path to fight for their rights. And this blessed youth accepted the decision of their leader because their heart was testifying that this leader was with them, was truthful and was not just being cowardly. Janoon… Ishq… Yaqeen… A perfect and lethal combination emerged. Fast forward August 2014
On the call of their leader, the world saw the same youth come out carrying the fire in their hearts which was kindling since the elections and they proved to the world that they are now an evolved form. They have become leaders. You have produced leaders Imran Khan.
Every day this new crop is seeing their leader standing tough, with faith in Allah and reaching for the stars. It feels like Allah is looking down at them and is sending his blessings from the heaven. Allah's help can be seen in the ever changing scenario. What a wonderful hands on experience for these newly formed leaders. Faith in God, the power of truth, perseverance, and hard work can change the world.
Today is the beginning of a new era. This nation is like a new born whose long journey of grooming and development is yet to come. Unfortunately this new born child is a grownup who carries a burden of years of bad habits, cynicism and unmet needs. It has been robbed of decent role models for generations. Parents have not been teaching their children virtues like truthfulness and hard work, instead they talk about being street smart and teach how to cover their tracks. Humanitarian work reduced to what can be put on a resume. And the worse of all, “all publicity is good publicity”. Day in and day out this nation has seen these characters on TV who personify corruption, vulgarity and even murder, being called mohtaram. Its a miracle that our youth has any morality left in them. So my friends the real work starts now. Every day standing on a container IK tries to instill the morality and ethics taught by our Prophet (saw) into our masses. In addition to the regular ‘truthfulness, hard work, courage and merit, he has also talked about a virtue I have never heard from a leader’s mouth before, ‘Rehemdily’. His words “Allah ki Rehmat is mulk par tab hi aaye gi jab hum Rehemdil hoon ge” literally stopped me in my tracks. What a fundamental ingredient for a human being…
The nation is awake and pulsating. The need for that guiding hand for this new bundle of energy and power is more than ever. There are no more excuses now. We all have to start anew with a passion for grooming this nation in our daily lives, as mothers, fathers, teachers, bosses, seniors and colleagues…
A nation moving forward with Truth, Courage, Selflessness, Merit and Humility before God.
