It isn’t for the first time Pakistani’s got to hear of suicide attack, or a bomb blast on a Friday congregation(Jumma Prayer) More than dozens have happened before. Its regretfully become a part of our lives since 30 odd years, people of my generation refer to the 80’s and 90’s era far more calm than today, but still it existed and so we moved on from one decade to the next till we landed in the 2000’s hearing stories of this or that from the government spokesperson, from media, from civil society etc. Fact of the matter is; we have been desensitized to death/killing, massacres, we have been played with in the most gruesome way! Unfortunate for the children of this country who have to bear the same fantasy stories our generation used to hear from the government.
Today’s massacre took place in Shikarpur, Sindh at an Imam Bargah where people had gathered for the Friday congregation. Over 60 people died, the rest have been critically injured, which means over sixty families got affected and those who are in the hospital their families continue to be on the edge! According to Bomb Disposal squad 5-7 kg of explosives were used in this attack. Horrific pictures came on media from the site of the blast with blood, shoes and tattered walls of the unfortunate place.
This incident happened exactly 44 days after Army Public School massacre in Peshawar on December 16th 2014 where 140 plus casualties took place. What lessons did we learn in these almost six weeks? What precautions did the Government take? How seriously was intelligence taken? Where should the innocent people of Pakistan turn to? Who should they ask for justice? Government, the military, the Courts? Who?
So who would be the beneficiary of killing innocent children at school or Namazi’s (worshippers) in a mosque? Certainly not a Muslim! Definitely not those who believe in one God; who fear Him or believe in humanity. This has to be the act of those who take killing as a game, as a spree, as a hunt that would fetch fist full of money. In short mercenaries!! Whose mercenaries are they? Who would benefit from chaos and killing in Pakistan? Definitely the enemy, no friend can do this to the other.
People of Pakistan demand answers! Enough of creating committees, enough of taking “Notice” of this incident, enough of ordering this or that by the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Enough of condemnatory notes stop the condemnations and take an action. If he cannot take a substantial step in pin pointing the criminals, giving a secure environment to the citizens of this country he might as well step down from his office.
Every corner, every town, every city of Pakistan has been bled by these terrorists;
How many dead bodies more? How many coffins more? How many body parts more to collect before we realize that it is time to pack them up or pack up the government who is too scared to name an entity, or provide safety to its own people.
This present Government exactly knows who is behind these attacks; they exactly know the heads of these terrorist outfits but they are hell scared to take their name. They want to maintain peace in Punjab, but for how long? While the rest of Pakistan mourns and buries their dead how long can Punjab stay out of it? Let’s be realistic for once!
All those safe havens given to these outfits in Punjab (North, Central and South) need to be busted, we must take them head on, or they will take us. It is time to face them than to hide behind closed doors. These outfits are given protection by the political parties in power and otherwise for the sake of terrorizing opponents and used by land mafia agents who have very hefty links with the ruling party ministers, they are so strong and resourceful that they can kidnap sons of Governor and ex Prime Minister of Pakistan.( One wonders why sons of both PPP families have been abducted and kept away for so long) They are also involved in kidnapping of known industrialists, taking millions of rupees out of those families who are affected.
If TTP can be taken head on, bombed by Pakistan Army, why can’t these outfits be taken care of? What is stopping this to happen?
Education is being deliberately ignored in this country. It is a fundamental right of every child, it is the most basic and important thing, in Pakistan it became a wealthy lucrative business when turned into privatization making it impossible for an ordinary mans child to step in the world of knowledge. Literacy rate in Pakistan is not climbing high but falling because among the mass population of over 200 million only 15% to 20% can read, write and speak. No substantial steps have been taken to educate the children of poor people in the rural areas by this Government or any that came before it. This has been deliberately done so that the uneducated mass turns to criminal ways. In majority these youngsters have no other option but to go to Madrassahs where they are brain washed to create a specific line of followers. They could be against anyone to the extent that they can kill anyone. This has nothing to do with Islam or its teachings.
Which ever entity took responsibility of today’s attack is neither worth a mention, nor a concern for a common Pakistani because the Government already knows who they are. Already the citizens of this country are bearing beyond their patience level; the incompetence of this present government is evident in every sphere. How can one forego the catastrophic shortages or blackout in these past two weeks?
Be it Majority or minority, no one is safe. Pakistanis need their dignity back, they want security, they demand respect, and they long for peace!
