As 6th September approaches the nation is taken down memory lane and reminded of the valiant defense of Pakistan in 1965. As much as Indians claim to have damaged Pakistan during the 1965 war, facts are quite contrary to their claims. It is not as a Pakistani citizen that one says it, but because international media archives reflect that India was the one who suffered more than Pakistan and if success has some yard stick, Pakistan achieved a military victory not only by repulsing the Indian attack but by taking over many and much Indian areas and equipment.
It is one big misunderstanding from a series of misunderstandings, presumably on part of the Indians, to mix up 1965 and 1971 and / or both with 2015. Although in 1971 Pakistan was fighting a war in East Pakistan physically and logistically separated by approximately twenty two hundred kilometers, comparing 1965 to 2015, or for that matter comparing 1971 with 2015, is similar to living in a fools’ paradise. If military success is to be measured in quantum the success achieved by the Pakistan Army and Air Force in operations Khyber and Zarb e Azb are unparalleled and could not have been imagined by any armed force.
Indians are puzzled, confused and baffled because their proxies and respective sub agents in Waziristan, Baluchistan and Karachi have been hit, networks crippled, infrastructures annihilated and with full fledged Zarb e Ghazab due any time now it will end forever, God willing.
Events and their relative significance are determined by their timings and places. They are more prominent if they carry some sort of signature. As the Pakistan Tehreek Insaf sit in and movement for ouster of the present government gained momentum last year, not only internal but external forces also apparently tried to impress upon the changing sequence of events. Conspicuous among them were release of water by India thus flooding the Punjab, engaging the overextended Army busy in Zarb e Azb towards flood relief, unprovoked firing at Sialkot Sector during Eid ul Azha last year and simultaneously followed by fires from the Iran and Afghanistan sides. When slogans of Go Nawaz Go were at their peak climax and when dynamics were headed towards a decisive phase, sponsored terrorists hit at the heart of the Military on 16 Dec 2014, an already Black Day known and remembered for when East Pakistan was severed and separated. The obvious is dangerous, the oblivious more dangerous. Logical questions are: 1) Did neighbors presumably try to influence the series of events? 2) Was an implied role played to try to save and support the present set up? 3) What prompted such effort and interest? 4) Last but not the least why at that particular point in time? Many observations unless sheer coincidences, will have to be viewed analytically, may be critically. Known devils pose threats, but the unknown ones pose bigger challenges. If our resolve to weed out all irritants is as unshakable as is being claimed, much brain storming and evidence searching may not be needed for locating nexus between events, indicators, triggering factors and outcomes.
In very recent times when President Ashraf Ghani visited Pakistan and the Afghan Intelligence Agency signed a Memorandum of Understanding with its Pakistani counterpart the Inter Services Intelligence (the 1st of its kind in years), the Indians started having severe bouts of panic. Immediately a string of bomb explosions took place in Kabul one after the other and fingers started being pointed at Pakistan thus polluting the minds of the Afghans with unwarranted suspicions. As a passing remark one cannot ignore the Ajmal Kasab and Indian Coast Guard soap operas. Prime Minister Narender Modi, an architect of the massacre of Muslims in Gujrat, being its Chief Minister as he then was, in his most recent admittance in Bangladesh, has confessed to the role of India in the breakup of East Pakistan. India is continuously instigating Iran and UAE against Pakistan. It has offered Iran to develop the port of Chabahar and is creating fears in the hearts of UAE rulers that Dubai would sink if Gwadar gets operational. Indian opposition to the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) is no secret. India is vigorously pressurizing through many channels and quarters so that the CPEC is shelved. Fortunately for Pakistan the CPEC is concerned and related to china. India not only is in no position to subdue or suppress China, but is also entangled with China in the disputed territory of Tibet. Prime Minister Modi’s visit to China was greeted by maps showing Kashmir as an integral part of Pakistan, followed by the vision of our Army Chief and his commanders to speed up and complete the corridor, 650 kilometers of which is already done and over with. COAS and his team also deserve appreciation of the entire nation for his decisions to secure Gwadar with a huge wall from all sides which is in the process of being built and a division of the Army which has been specially formed to secure the Chinese engineers and other Chinese professionals working on different projects.
So basically defeat of their proxies, shattered dreams of an independent Baluchistan, the fast developing CPEC, a land locked Afghanistan with access only from Pakistan, shattered hopes of being a bully in the region, a stable Sri Lanka with Pakistan’s help after 28 years of insurgency, one hundred dams being built in Baluchistan and Pak – China collaboration in the JF Thunder aircrafts, as well in other spheres and last but not the least recent Russian tilt and warmth towards Pakistan is sending the Indians shivers down their spines. Frustration and boggle mindedness in their quarters is evident from the unprovoked and indiscriminate firing by Indian border security forces targeting innocent Pakistani civilians across the line of control, which has neither been condemned by the Pakistani Government openly, nor taken to International forums aggressively.
Pakistan Defense a web site of defense analysts has posted a comment which means that for Pakistan to take India head on at any time is not a problem, it is their supporters among us who need to be tackled immediately and appropriately on top priority. One could not agree with this anymore. Simply because Pakistan is a nuclear armed nation of 200 million with highly motivated armed forces and 80% populace (as per a recent survey) happy and willing to die in case of a war. God forbid if it escalates to a nuclear conflict, Indians will be sore losers in terms of cities and people. All concerned need to be reminded of this fact from time to time. Wishing everyone a very happy defense day in advance.
Pakistan Zindabad!!
