Elections are contested to win.. Yes.. Except when an anti-status quo party is running in the most entrenched constituency of the country. Then it is perhaps more about taking a stand and making a political statement. PTI running in NA 246 was exactly that.

If we insist on number analysis then let's compare all numbers, including percentages retained from previous elections, years of presence in the constituency and the chancy alliances of convenience. No one should delude themselves that the win of MQM in any way indicates the mood in the rest of the country.

Imran Khan is that leader who jumps into a tough fight irrespective of all ground realities. He aspires to a greater cause. To epitomize the awesome power of the vote in a fair and transparent electoral process. To effect the politician and the citizen of this country to play by the rules. To chip away at the amalgamated sewerage of fear, sloth and despondence gripping every citizen of this rudderless nation of ours.

He is striving to pull this country out of the quicksand of its own ashes however the visionary titan has an Achilles heel. PTI as an effectual opposition will never fully achieve its mission and that is exactly what this struggle will ever amount to if the science of politics stays the forbidden fruit for PTI.

Despite enjoying a tsunami of die-hard supporters and workers, PTI is consistently failing to up its game on the field and achieve its objectives at the polls. The leader moves mountains with his will and perseverance while administratively the party struggles to gather enough trained and informed polling agents to cover a by-election. The abject disorganization and the lack of management is mind boggling and the inertia seems to be of paralytic proportions.

When the supporters see Imran Khan as the only one they can trust among the leadership and the dedicated workers find themselves discombobulated and disconcerted then there is a colossal problem. Merit seems to be the least sought after value in a party’sstructure whose leader swears by its virtues.

The man who became a legend in the world of Cricket has always preached an honest analysis of ones mistakes. He needs to take his own advice. The one who fears none has to rid himself of all (old and new) dead weights and reconstitute the winning team.
Results oriented professional managers, organizers, planners and media advisors are all your friends. Find them.
Hire and fire, conflict of interest rules, responsibility with authority and accountability are your time honored tools. Use them.

How long will we decry the hostile media, the violent tendencies of the other parties and all the tricks and traps of those who manipulate elections?
The electorate is awake and waiting.. The goodwill and the vote bank is there..It’s time to convert all this into the ultimate victory..It's time to bring the trophy home
